How it All Began

Roy's musical journey began in the early 1980s, driven by a passion for performance and a love for diverse musical styles.
My early involvement with the electro-pop band "Proxyma Futura" in Milan marked the start of live performances in clubs, setting the stage for a dynamic career in music.

I adopted the stage name ROY in the spring of 1986, when I signed my first Italo-disco release with Memory Records.
That moment marked the beginning of a long and diverse musical journey.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to explore many different styles and roles—recording, performing, and singing across a variety of genres.
I've also managed a recording studio and worked as a producer, not only for my own projects but also for other artists, as well as for advertising, television, and film.

Below, you'll find a timeline highlighting some of the key milestones in my career. It’s been an incredible ride so far—and the journey is far from over.

Early 80s
The beginning

I’ve been part of “Proxyma Futura”, an electro pop band based in Milan, and I started to perform live in clubs with other bands playing electronic music.

1985
DESTINY TIME

My first record produced and released by Memory Records. After its release, the single had been an hit in the spanish dance charts, and starting from 1986 I made many gigs all around Catalunya.

1987
SHOOTING STAR (SIX TIMES)

This was the title of the second song produced and released by Memory records, that hit the dance floors in many other countries, like Mexico.

1988
People in the House

House music was taking the scene everywere, and I released the single DECORATING THE HOUSE, produced by myself and the former drummer of Simple Minds, Mike Ogletree.

1989
Endless Wave

I created my own record label, and started to work as a producer for myself and other artists too. Many releases have been created in partnership with David Zambelli of italodisco band Scotch.

90's
Studio productions

I've started managing the recording studio owned by the international plublishing label Peer Music, where I made many productions, like the double album "ALLEGRO ITALIANO" by the Ricchi e Poveri.

1991
Ubaldo Roy

Under the name Ubaldo Roy, I signed my first contract with a big italian label, RICORDI, whose result was the release of the sigle "BISOGNO D'AMORE", which was in the charts of many italian radio stations, among which “Radio Italia Solo Musica Italiana”.

2004
BACK TO DANCE

I started a power-party band performing all the best music from the 70's and 80's. We performed for many private companies, like Coca Cola, and in beautiful venues, like Eurodisney Paris.

2006
Jazz passion

I founded the Jazzpot Ensamblea, a band composed by 8 well established jazz players with which I executed a jazz/swing repertoire with songs from the 30's up to the 60's.

2018
Social connections

Italo-disco fans and enthusiasts started to contact with me on social media, and then I realized that the italo-disco vibe was still very active in many countries, and decided to start my “new era” of musical production.

2022
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

37 years after Destiny Time, a new record was released! The song has been written by me and produced in partnership with the finnish record company Flashback Records, owned by Kimmo Salo.

2024
WALKING OVER THE RAINBOW

After some big gigs held in Mexico City and Finland, I wrote this new song that has been released in october 2024, again in production partnership with Flashback Records.

2025
The Wave never stops

I decided to restart my former label ENDLESS WAVE, and continue with musical productions.
After all, the claim of this company is: “music that never stops”...
